"I just wanted to say you're a natural for this job! Your presence was appreciated, chats at the right moments to distract/help through the different phases and I really appreciated your calmness and words during the hospital visit. And of course all the help in managing the contractions when Ross was going about getting things ready.
I keep going back and every time I view the images I notice new details or fall in love with a new image! Thank you again for these amazing memories!"
Dear Elizabeth,
One of my first memories from that day was entering your home and seeing Eilean twirling proudly in her “baby dress,” full of excitement. There was also a quiet tension in the air as you waited on the phone with triage, concerned about reduced movements, holding steady through the unknown with such calm and grace.
Even when plans shifted and you found yourself walking through the hospital car park between surges, you stayed centred. I watched you speak gently to your daughter, hold space for everyone around you, and hours later, return home and find your rhythm again, just as you’d hoped. You were even cracking jokes between contractions!
And when Ollie arrived, I blinked away a few quiet tears as I clicked the shutter. The way Ross looked at you with such admiration was beautiful to witness, and the deep love surrounding this little one from the very beginning was unmistakable, right down to sweet Bonnie checking in from time to time.
Thank you for welcoming me into your birth space with such trust and warmth, not just as a photographer, but as a quiet presence beside your family. It’s no small thing to invite someone into such an intimate moment, and I’ll never take that for granted. As the very first birth I photographed for Art of Birth, it’s one I’ll always hold close.
With love and gratitude,
Remi
